Who qualifies
- You get your electricity from Austin Energy. The check is mailed to the Austin Energy account holder.
- You buy a new vehicle (no used vehicles) from a participating dealership, like us.
- It's an electric two- or three-wheel vehicle: e-bike, e-scooter, moped, or motorcycle.
- You apply within 60 days of purchase.
- Up to 3 rebates per customer per fiscal year (Oct 1 – Sept 30). Fleet purchases don't count toward this limit.

FAQ
Do Onewheels, e-skateboards, or eFoils qualify?
The program covers electric two- and three-wheel vehicles (e-bikes, scooters, mopeds, motorcycles). Single-wheel boards, four-wheel skateboards, and watercraft don't fit that definition. If you're unsure about a specific vehicle, check with Austin Energy before you buy.
I rent and don't pay the electric bill. Can I still apply?
The rebate goes to the Austin Energy account holder and the check is mailed to them. Ask your landlord or the person on the account to apply or to authorize use of their account number.
Do accessories count toward the price?
Bolt-on accessories that we install on your bike when you buy it, like racks, fenders, baskets, or lights, are generally considered part of the bike. That means they can be included in the vehicle cost on your invoice, which may move you into a higher rebate tier. Austin Energy makes the final decision on what counts. Gear that isn't installed on the bike, like helmets, generally isn't included.
What if I bought online?
The purchase must be from a participating dealership, and your invoice has to show the dealer's name. Purchases from Electric Surf Co, in store or on electricsurf.com, show our name on the invoice.
How do fleet rebates work?
Businesses and organizations buying 5 to 25 vehicles can get up to $800 per vehicle. Fleet vehicles must carry Austin Energy branding (they provide it), stay in service in Austin Energy territory for at least a year, and you'll submit a short mileage and lessons-learned report at the end. Non-profits can buy from any dealer and operate outside the service territory with proof of non-profit status. Dealers can't apply on a fleet's behalf. Talk to us about fleet pricing.
Who do I contact about my application?
Austin Energy's Plug-In Austin team: (512) 494-9400 or pluginaustin@austinenergy.com. Please wait the 6–8 weeks before following up on a check. For invoices, serial numbers, or spec sheets, contact us.
